Swinburne Pickleball Club
I film the club's pickleball sessions every Monday and every Friday.
Club & event photography
I shoot the moment people forget to pose.
Hi, I'm Aubs, a photographer and videographer in Kuching. I shoot clubs, societies and events, and I cover the speakers and everyone else in the room. You get your photos in 3 working days.
There's a camera in the corner, and it works. Look bottom right and press the shutter.
Imperfection over Perfection.
Selected frames
Moments from events I've shot lately. If you're in one and not feeling it, tell me and I'll take it down. Click any photo to see it in full with its camera details.
Events I've covered
Two 15-second cuts from the Monday and Friday sessions I film every week. Press play. They're silent.
It depends on how long and how big your event is, plus a small kit fee for my gear. Tell me about your event and I'll send you a quote.
I cover the speakers and everyone else in the room, not just the posed shots, and I'll make you laugh for the real smiles.
I'm Aubrey, but call me Aubs. I'm Sarawakian, and I study Accountancy at Swinburne University of Technology, Sarawak Campus. I shoot photo and video for clubs and events.
It started in June, before our winter term. I got bored, and my friends in Digital Multimedia Design had to buy a camera for class, so I joined in the fun too. Then I looked at a frame and thought, "Oh, I took that." I've been hooked since.
At events with speakers, the speaker's point of view often goes unseen, so I make sure I cover them and everybody else in the room. My favourite frames are the genuine ones, so I'll make you laugh to get that joy on camera.
My accounting side shows up in my planning. My shot lists are meticulous, and I like to say I audit my own work. On the day, I keep the shoot free flow so the plan never boxes in the creativity.
Right now I shoot for several clubs while I build my portfolio, and I'm always working to sharpen my skills.
Still learning: to stay on the right side of the 180-degree rule, because I see so much potential in angles other people miss.
I film the club's pickleball sessions every Monday and every Friday.
I volunteer to photograph the club's events, such as the Sarawak Space Challenge Roadshow.
I'm the media lead for ASHRAE-SSSB. The AGM is the event I photographed for the branch.
I'm a member of the AWS Club, and the AWS and Computer Science clubs sometimes lend me to each other for events. This was my most recent loan.
Professional headshots for the committee, photo and video coverage of the AGM, and a t-shirt promo shoot where I got to play with shutter drags. I also got hands-on practice directing people on how to pose, where to look, and how to adjust to the light, since I wasn't in a studio and couldn't control it.
An event in collaboration with the Swinfit club and ACE Studios. I shot around 100 frames. The hardest part was finding shots that felt appropriate, since people were exercising and awkward movements can make them uncomfortable. My proudest frame is a Dutch angle of the coach.
My recent biggest shoot: a full business conference for the society.
As a volunteer in the Student Life Volunteering Program, I photographed the International Meet and Greet session.
